IDA International signs MOU with Mongolia

IDA International collaborates with Mongolia on ICT, eGovernment and Capacity Building initiatives
MOU sealed with Mongolia’s Information, Communications Technology and Post Authority

The Government of Mongolia and Singapore strengthened their collaborative relationship today with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between IDA International and the Information, Communications Technology and Post Authority of the Government of Mongolia (ICTPA).

The MOU was signed by Mr. Bat-Erdene Jalavsuren, Chairman of the ICTPA and Mr. Seah Chin Siong, CEO of IDA International.

ICTPA is mandated to provide primary areas of work related to the development of laws, regulations and development policies related to information technology, post, broadcasting, telecommunications and technology development matters within the framework of works of the Prime Minister of Mongolia, development of unified registration system, organisation of activities to implement policies, programmes and plans, coordination, monitoring and evaluation.

The MOU defines the framework within which both organisations can explore opportunities to collaborate on Infocomm Technology (ICT) activities and projects related to eGovernment, with the intent of promoting closer collaboration between the Mongolia and Singapore on the basis of mutual benefit.

“I am confident that this collaboration will be beneficial for both countries. This is yet another step towards our strategy of transforming Mongolia into a knowledge-based society. We look forward to this new partnership with IDA International,” said Mr. Jalavsuren. Sharing this sentiment, Mr. Seah also added, “This is a significant milestone for collaboration between Mongolia and Singapore in the area of public service infocomm. We are excited about the opportunity to share our ICT journey and look forward to a successful partnership with the Government of Mongolia.”

Under the MOU, both parties have a mutual understanding to collaborate in several areas for the next three years. These areas include ICT related projects such as enterprise architecture, cloud computing and project management. In addition, both countries have agreed to collaborate on eGovernment projects, which will benefit citizens and businesses in Mongolia.

One of its objectives is to also establish an information society and a foundation for a knowledge-based society in Mongolia by enhancing extensive application of ICT in all society sectors.
